87 imagesPhoto essay on the fisherman of the Hastings Stade. Going out into the English Channel in small boats under 10 metres, these men go about their daily business as fishermen with pride and professionalism. The Hastings Stade is home to Britain's biggest fleet of beach-launched fishing boats with a history dating back more than a thousand years. The boats have to be hauled out of the sea after each trip, which stops them being more than about ten metres long. This means that they can only carry small amounts of gear and travel just a few miles. As a result the fleet has always fished in an ecologically sound way.

112 imagesPhoto essay about a traditional Savile Row tailor, The Huntsman. The Edwardian-style fitting and cutting rooms, mounted stag heads and compartmentalised workshops over several floors suggest an old-fashioned craft refusing to compromise on quality by automation. Customers usually have three to five fittings, and garments are hand-made using paper patterns by a staff of highly skilled cutters, coat, waistcoat and trouser-makers, alteration tailors and finishers, taking several weeks. They don't do 'modern', they don't advertise, and they don't need to. Their standards explain Huntsman's prices, still among the highest on Savile Row.

256 imagesCollection of images from all seven of London's Victorian Cemeteries. Tombstones, atmosphere and architecture from Abney Park, Highgate, Brompton, Nunhead, Kensal Green, Tower Hamlets and West Norwood cemeteries. In the early 1800s, it was realised that London's churchyards were getting over crowded so new burial grounds had to be sought. A group of financiers decided to buy land outside residential suburbs of the city to establish new cemeteries in rural surroundings. The resultant seven great Victorian cemeteries scattered across London are some of the largest as well as most beautiful, eclectic and enchanting burial places that became fashionable places of rest for Victorian Society.
