  • FRANCE GRANDE SYNTHE 2AUG17 - Iraqi Kurd Marding Sokolom, 30, and his daughter Aya, 3 stand on front of  their damaged tent in the unofficial Jungle II camp near Grande Synthe, Dunkirk, northern France.<br />
<br />
He claims to have relatives living in the UK and has been at the camp for nearly one month. They have travelled for 6 months to get here, including a 6-day boat ride across the Mediterranean with 100 fellow refugees - a journey during which all thought they would drown. <br />

  • FRANCE GRANDE SYNTHE 2AUG17 - Iraqi Kurd Ryan Salah Jabar, 24, displays his Union Jack and 'London' tattooed on his forearm at the unofficial Jungle II camp near Grande Synthe, Dunkirk, northern France.<br />
<br />
He claims to have worked as a translator for the British Army for 5 years and has been in the camp for 3 months. During that time, he attempted to enter the UK by hanging on to the axles of a truck bound for the ferry port and has been detained and subsequently let go by French police several times.<br />

<br />
He has travelled via Turkey, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany to reach the camp where he has been stranded for 5 months.<br />
